Penthouse Prefab is Problematic

It seems that for right now the idea of placing prefab housing on the rooftops of city buildings to help ease inner city housing crunches is cost prohibitive.

First Penthouse is a firm specializing in crafting high end housing for London rooftops. Apparently though, they are really only interested in catering to rich people who want to tell their rich friends that they live on a rooftop penthouse because their units tip the scale at $3 million for a 2,000 sq. ft home. Most of that cost comes from the high cost of zoning and installing the unit - but obviously it makes the idea of turn-key rooftop homes not yet a feasible solution for already crowded cities. Ideas like the Loftcube are great, but maybe it will take something that is more easily erected to make affordable rooftop living a reality.
